Event Calendar help

Hello everyone,
Iv'e installed Grimlochs Event Calendar, version 201, on php-fusion version 7.02.06, have got it to register events,
but when I send someone a PM via event calendar's PM function, to offer them a chance to register for the event, they get the PM,
But, the link they recieve to click on to register, shows up in code format, the link does work, and the user can successfully register for the event,

The only problem is the code they see in the link, it is not understandable from a users point of view,
and most users will hesitate before they click on a piece of code,

Also one other query, the Event Calendar is installed as an infusion, but If I want users to see the small Calendar,
I have also to install it as a panel, this gives two links, is there any way I can not have the second link that currently shows up
in the side navigation panel, I'm using the Gillette theme,

And one other thing, is there any way the small event calendar panel, can actually highlight the function days, as at present
on my install all days are the same color, users have no way of knowing if there;s anything happening,

Please help, thank you all lin advance

Item 1: <a> tags cannot be used in the PM messaging system. It only uses the url function and what you see is normal ops for messaging.

Item 2: There is only 1 place (in the infusion.php file itself) that creates a navigation link. Installing a panel does not automatically do this so I don't understand this.

Item 3: If you read the README file it says that you have to Enable Custom CSS in the settings. When this is done those css definitions are added to the head of the page. If you view the browsers page source you should see this:
Download source  Code
<link rel='stylesheet' href='../infusions/aw_ecal_panel/css/calendar.css' type='text/css' />

...if you don't there is something weird about your install.

Thanks for answering Webmaster,

as regards item_1, Iv'e attached a small graphic from the Event Calendar Readme, outlining that Event Calendar
does place a Link in the main Navigation menu, or at least that's my interpretation, though I could be wrong,

As regards item_2 , the code that appears as a link when I use event calendar PM function to send an invitation,
Iv'e attached a small graphic of the exact link / code in question,

I have not got around to looking into why the custom css, features, but any help would be much appreciated

And here's the second image, in relation to the event calendar's initial installation adding a link in the main navigation, It's a small image to save space,

It did not attach to my last post, I tried, seems only one image can be attached at a time,
Grimloch's version,

Also, according to he readme for this infusion, placeing the following code should eliminate the event calendar's
text link from showing up in the main navigation panel,

/infusions/aw_ecal_panel/calendar.php I browsed to> admin/main, and added the code as explained,
but the event calendar: text / button link still appears in the main navigation panel, and, I get no error message,

but when I look in the calendar page code, I see no link to use an external style sheet as commented I should,
here's the links I see

<link rel='stylesheet' href='../../themes/Gillette/styles.css' type='text/css' media='screen' />
<link rel='shortcut icon' href='../../images/favicon.ico' type='image/x-icon' />
<script type='text/javascript' src='../../includes/jquery/jquery.js'></script>
<script type='text/javascript' src='../../includes/jscript.js'></script>
</head>
<body>
<table cellpadding='0' cellspacing='0' width='100%'>
<tr>
<td class='full-header'>
<a href='http://clic.ie/fusion/'><img src='../../images/php-fusion-logo.png' alt='Clic' style='border: 0;' /></a>

does this conclude I have the infusion installed wrongly, else why doesn't it show the css, when I have it set to use external css,

thanks for help

OK; here we go. First are you telling me you DON'T want a nav link for the calendar??? If so just delete it from your site links. As for the css not being picked up I'm not sure what's going on there; you may have to give me admin access to your site so I can check things out for you.

On another note, I am in the process of re-doing some things in the infusion. For instance here is an image of a received email from the script. I completely revamped the send html email function and I'm working on the send PM function as well. I may be able to get around the PM system limitations for links.

Picture:

''.trimlink('http://www.whisperwillow.com/my_panels/ev_mail.jpg', 20).(strlen('http://www.whisperwillow.com/my_panels/ev_mail.jpg')>30?substr('http://www.whisperwillow.com/my_panels/ev_mail.jpg', strlen('http://www.whisperwillow.com/my_panels/ev_mail.jpg')-10, strlen('http://www.whisperwillow.com/my_panels/ev_mail.jpg')):'').''

...progress, progress.

Hi, Its not that I don't want a link to the calendar, I did not see the need for it, as the small calendar has all the links necessary, and opens the bigger version anyway, I was just wondering if perhaps that could be a sign I installed something somewhere I should not have, and then someone mentioned in a reply to me, that they did not know how the link got there either, and then I see on this site, no such link in the navigation panel, I thank you for pointing out how to remove it,

I will have one more go at installing the calendar, but before I do, I will ask you to confirm what I believe are the installation instructions, I have posted the install instructions below, where I can comment on them, and perhaps someone will let me know if am right or wrong,

*************************************************
1.
Upload everything under 'php-files' to your 'root folder' and 'infuse' through your admin panel as usual.
**************************************************
So, inside the download folder which for me was, <Event_Calendar_v201> I find the following 3 folders-><files><infusions><ew_ecal_panel>

Please tell me which of the folders or files goes where, I placed the complete <infusions> folder and all its contents in to the same folder as my installation of Php-fusion,
Is this correct?

***************************************************

***************************************************
Then It says
Go to "System Admin/Panels"
and add the side-panel called "aw_ecal_panel".

Don't forget to locate the panel:
( left-right/up-down ) and enable it.

Go to the main calendar and click 'Settings' to configure the infusion. Don't forget to check 'Use Custom CSS'.

I did this, the panel worked but as I said no css, even when I enabled it, and also had the code showing in the link as the on the graphic I posted above, , is this code normally shown, or is it a problem only I have
******************************************************

May be if I had confirmation on what I mention above, my problems with installing this calendar will be clear,

I looked at the work your doing on the update, via the link you gave, it looks very good , definitely keep going on it,

Thank you for your support

Sorry for delay answering, was finalizing the infusion which is now complete. OK, here's the deal.

1) All that needs to be done after unzipping the archieve is to upload the aw_ecal_panel folder into your existing infusions folder.

2) I have enabled Use Custom CSS to be the default in the infusion.php file at infuse time so no need to enable it in settings.

3) Go to settings to enable or disable the image slideshow and the color legend display at the bottom of the calendar panel.

4) Everything has been preset for an English website: i.e. Sunday is the first day of the week, dates are displayed as Month/Day/Year (3/24/13).

5) As for the entire link code being displayed in the PM system, you really don't even have to send a PM to the users. Just select the users to invite and then send them an email instead.

6) The send html email functions were completely renovated and it now sends a VERY NICE full-blown html email. ( see the new email image in the earlier post)

7) The only thing left to do is code those functions to send a multi-part/mixed email with a text version as well, for users that can't view html emails or choose to only receive text emails.

I am attaching the new archieve here: replace your existing install please and report back. We WILL solve your custom css problem.

:D

Great News!

I downloaded Event Calendar V2.01, from the link in this post, copied the "aw_ecal_panel" folder to the php-fusion "inusions folder", infused it, enabled it as a panel, and it popped into view, will test it soon as, and report my findings,

Will let you know how my hosting issue progresses too,

Can't Thank you enough:

Sorry for the inconvenience folks; there is a slight file fix to be applied to the Event Calendar infusion. I found a newer version of the 'html2text.php' file by the author, which needs to be in place. So: here are the affected files that need to be replaced...

The main archieved zip has been updated.

Don't know what I am doing wrong, but I am not getting the email as noted in this post. I have invited some members, but their invitations came through with a private message. Still testing this facet of the infusion.
